Alex
I know the game. I know the angle. I know how to make you beg.
My hands on your body, my mouth hovering over yours—I’ll tell you everything you want to hear. Ten inches of real estate never felt so good.
But don’t take my word for it. My client list is long and my motto is short—one single thrust and you’re mine. I’m not good at what I do, I’m fantastic. But satisfaction doesn’t come cheap. So open your wallet and prepare to forget your name. I’m about to ruin you for any other man.
One single thrust and you’re mine.

Thrust The Alpha Escort Series eBook Sybil Bartel
I didn’t know it was possible to dislike both of the main characters as much as I did from the very first page. The first chapter is just plain ridiculous, Alex’s behavior was over the top, and she allowed him to destroy her instead of putting on her big girl panties. Simply said, Alex was a douche and Olivia was spineless, then they fall in Instalove.I ended up skimming quite a bit of the book because the sex scenes became gratuitous, I would have liked to see more plot development, or…something. It felt like the script for a cheesy porn movie rather than a story you could get invested in. Unfortunately the author’s writing style didn’t work for me either. The sentences were simple and clipped, making the story feel overly punctuated, both literally and figuratively.
I think this is a case of, “it’s not you, it’s me”. Many will love this book, it is definitely sexy, it just wasn’t for me.

Thrust The Alpha Escort Series eBook Sybil Bartel Reviews
Breathtaking. That’s “Thrust” in one word in oh-so-many ways. It’s got everything A refreshing plot, dual POV, a drool-worthy male main character, a strong-willed female main character, a host of complex supporting characters, just to name a few qualities.
I found the idea of the hero being a male escort to be totally new and refreshing. Personally, it was the first time I read a romance with this premise and the reason I bought it, in the first place. I was NOT disappointed. Alex’s story is a roller-coaster of emotions, toe-curling sex scenes, and non-stop action. I literally couldn’t put my down because every time I was about to do it, a new development in the story line reeled me in and I had to keep reading. I’m a sucker for multiple POVs, when well executed, and Sybil does a brilliant job. She uses first person alternating POVs for Olivia and Alex, which puts the reader inside their minds and that’s just perfect for this kind of fast-paced story. Giving the main characters their own voices is one of the safest ways to assure readers won’t miss on anything. Lastly, I found fascinating the play of words in the title because this book is as much about ‘trust’ as it is about ‘thrust’ and that is as much as I will say. “No spoilers, sweetie,” is my main rule when reviewing a book.
Sybil not only skillfully creates realistic characters, but subtly takes the reader on a journey through their psyche that is unique and profound. She gradually exposes new layers of their motivations, triggers, and vulnerabilities. Amazing. In Olivia and Alex, you’ll find believable and relatable characters and you’ll want to stay with them for far more time than the intense weekend this book covers. After all, it’s impossible not to fall for a guy who will carry an injured Golden Retriever up 20 floors of stairs almost without breaking a sweat. And this is just one example I can include in a review, because most of the others are inappropriate for young audiences, if you get my meaning. The supporting characters - may favorites being Merry, Sparks and Charlie - almost steal the spotlight. Plus, characters from other books by Sybil make brief cameo appearances. Delightful.
Here are some of my favorite quotes (the others I can’t post on here)
Olivia
“Needed to lie right here and tell myself he was bad for me until I believed”.
Alex
“This woman was every fantasy I never knew I had”.
“I’m not going to date you, Olivia Toussaint. I’m going to own you.”
“I owned her. Because she owned me.”
I recommend “Thrust” to readers seeking a highly well-written, scorching-hot story, with depth and feeling. A warning, though Alex will own you and you’ll love every second of it.
Edited to add - I LOVE THE NEW COVER
I don’t read many romances, but when I do I don’t mind what level of heat they are. I can always skip anything that is too explicit for my taste. Frankly I often find detailed sex scenes rather tedious, unless they’re is so well written that they hold my attention. Usually that means that relationship building is going on as well as the sex; in other words, it’s still moving the story along, not just a chunk of sex thrown in because it’s a romance and readers expect it. Thrust was like that.
I think I skimmed one section, but what I found interesting was how the aspects of the male character that were unappealing outside the bedroom became appealing when wielded in the bedroom—at least for the female character. Their sexual relationship is based on the idea that women, or this woman anyway, likes to be dominated. It’s a common theme in romances, and harks back to primitive times when the females of the species liked a man who could, above all, be strong and care for her and any offspring. The thing that this author did well was to marry the dominating alpha male aspects of the character with tenderness and concern. The nice thing about such characters is that when they’ve found their woman, they know she’s the one and don’t hold back from letting her know. Women like that.
What made me pick up this book was that several reviewers said how well it was written, that it was more than your normal romance. I believe someone even used the word literary romance, and I think it’s a good term for this book. Why? Because these characters have issues, particularly the woman. Her brother an Afghanistan veteran committed suicide, an event which left scars on her and her best friend. The male character is also a veteran and a top-of-the-line male prostitute. It makes for an interesting character.
At first I didn’t like the male character at all. He comes across as an arrogant jerk. At the end he is less arrogant and you realise that he is actually a very caring fellow, not such a jerk as he first appears. The way he helps the woman to sort out her issues is unexpected and gives the story a depth it wouldn’t otherwise have. So this is more than a story about two people getting it off together—though that is a big part of it—it’s also about how people can heal each other, and how the right person can be the impetus for major changes in our life.
Expert writing, impeccable editing, a well-constructed, enjoyable story with depth of characterisation and meaning means that this book warrants 5 stars.
This book is the perfect escape! It's sexy, funny (sometimes even LOL-worthy), and impossible to put down. Alex is the kind of guy you want to hate but just can't help falling for, and Olivia is a hard-working but down-on-her-luck girl we can all relate to. Alex (a former Marine) has grown tired of being a male escort but has no plans to give up the life until he meets Olivia, who is starting a charity to train dogs for veterans with PTSD. Their chemistry is off the charts, but when Alex messes up her fundraiser, he tries to make it up to her and falls for her at the same time. But she doesn't know he is a male escort, and he can't hide it forever... If you need a fun, sexy, fast read, definitely check this one out! PLUS, it's a great book for dog lovers!!!
